I know that you know, you need to exercise. So, why aren’t you? Do you feel you already have enough on your plate, and there just aren’t enough hours in the day to fit in exercise? Maybe, you are just tired of hearing it. But, you have to admit you feel much better when you exercise.
Stress Reduction With Exercise. The Benefits Are Amazing.
You live in a world where most of the time you are sitting down at work. Unless, you are fortunate enough to work outdoors and be able to move around. It’s easy to get stuck at your desk and lose track of time.
Exercise can be a 20 minute walk. That means walking 10 minutes in one direction, then you have to walk 10 minutes back. It’s also helpful if you can get outside and get some natural light. Your body needs some Vitamin D, as well.
If you want to take it a little further, join a gym. Go to an exercise class. Try yoga, it’s great for the mind and body connection. You could also hire a trainer. This will help with accountability. You really can’t beat the endorphin high you get from exercise. Make sure to schedule it at a time, that you know you will do it.
This means you need to make it a habit in your life. Right now you may feel like you just don’t have the time for it. But, what could you cut out? Time behind the screen. Do you really need to work 12 hours a day? What else could you cut back on or cut out, to make time for exercise?
Not only will your body benefit but so will your emotional health. Here are 10 benefits you'll achieve when you use exercise to reduce stress:
- If you have mood swings, it will help alleviate them.
- You will feel better about yourself.
- You will feel more motivated.
- You will feel more focused.
- You won’t have as many aches and pains.
- Your health will improve.
- You will have more fun.
- You will prevent burn out from happening.
- You won’t take everything, so personally.
- You will be less stressed, which means you will be able to function at full capacity.
Another type of exercise is breathing exercises. This doesn't’ have to be complicated, it can be simple. Take a 10 minute break, you can do this in the morning if you’d like. Simply close your eyes and do some deep breathing. Breathe in slowly and exhale slowly. If you’d like you can play some soft background music. Make sure you are comfortable and won’t be interrupted.
Another benefit is, it will help you to slow down and enjoy the present. You live in a fast paced society. You never have enough. This leaves you feeling depleted. I want you to add exercise to your life right now and slow down.
Here is another simple tip. Instead of rushing through your shower, slow down a little. Wash your hair with some nice shampoo, and take your time. Massage your scalp. Instead of being on your phone until the very second you fall asleep at night. Turn off your phone, and take a warm bubble bath.
These are a few simple ways to slow down. There are many more you can play around with until you find something you like, and will stick with. If you still feel like you just can’t do it, then take a look at your mindset. You may be stuck in a very old belief system. The first step is to examine where it came from. Growing up how did your family feel about exercise? Did they talk about it or practice it? If you answered no, then you may have some old issues lingering in your mind that you need work through.
You should be able to set aside time to exercise, and feel good about. Maybe, you got the guilt trip growing up a lot from your parents. If that’s the case, you need to start saying nice things to yourself today. Like, you are worth it or it’s alright to take a break and exercise.
Now, don’t get me wrong just because you start exercising today, it doesn’t mean your life will change drastically overnight. But, over time you will begin to feel better about yourself. In life you go through seasons. This will help get you through the storms in your life.
