Relationship Challenges

"And this too shall pass."

As most of you know I counsel a lot of couples, and I absolutely love it. But, I also counsel individuals, as well. People, often, come to see me after a break-up. They may be feeling confused or lonely. They know they want to be in a relationship, but wonder if they will ever meet the right person. I know it feels horrible to have your heart broken, but you can recover. Sometimes, people have been in a relationship with someone that could have a personality disorder. This is very serious and you will need help to recover. I teach my clients a method called the FOG. You will need to defog when you have been in a relationship with someone that has a personality disorder. FOG is when someone in your life is or has controlled you by using fear, obligation and guilt.

  • F - fear
  • O - obligation
  • G - guilt
I got this acronym from, The Stop Walking on Eggshells Workbook. The book is full of worksheets, checklists and exercises that can be applied to your life and used as a resource to learn from your relationships. This is a practical and resourceful workbook. It can also help you if you are looking for a counselor to help guide you through the process.
It's important to remember that this will pass and that you are not doomed when it come's to relationships. It's easy to beat yourself up when a relationship ends, especially if you have been in a relationship with someone that has a personality disorder.
